New General Ledger multi-element reporting hierarchy

For customers upgrading to Business IntelligenceBusiness Intelligence, often referred to as BI, refers to the skills, processes, technologies, applications and practices used to support decision making. This is also the name of the Pronto Xi BI module. version 750, note that all existing General Ledger hierarchies, including obsolete hierarchies, have been relocated and replaced with the single General Ledger multi-element hierarchyIn Analytics Dashboards, regular dimensions contain descriptive and business key information and this information is organised into a hierarchy; from it's highest level of granularity, to its lowest. This change has been made to allow reportA set of data deliberately laid out to communicate business information. Depending on the context, 'report' may refer to report specification or report output. Report (more precisely, report specification) is the generic term for the objects created or edited in Cognos Analytics. Pronto Xi Business Intelligence offers a suite of standard reports. authors to create reports across multiple hierarchy sets, to simplify the General Ledger packageA subset of data objects for a project. It is typically a sub-set of a model (or can be the entire model) and is specifically created for publishing to the Pronto Xi Business Intelligence server. Packages provide data, modelled simply for end-users, for creating reports, analyses, and ad hoc queries. Within Pronto Xi Business Intelligence we have two distinct types of packages, with different content and purpose: Reporting packages Analytics packages, and to make report authoring easier to learn and implement.

The existing General Ledger reports have been upgraded to use the new General Ledger multi-element reporting hierarchy.

If you have existing reports that use the older hierarchies, you do not need to make any changes.

In both the Master Chart and GL Transactions namespaces, a new GL Multi-Element Reporting Hierarchy query subject has been added. The new multi-element hierarchies are intended as a single replacement for all the previously included hierarchies which has the added benefit of allowing you to report across multiple hierarchy sets. The now-redundant hierarchies have been moved to a new Obsolete GL Objects folder. These redundant hierarchy objects include the Multi-Element Reporting Hierarchy n query subject folder, plus the hierarchies in the Alternate Multi-Element Hierarchies and Obsolete GL Hierarchies folders.

The General Ledger (Analytics) and General Ledger Transactions (Analytics) folders now include the new GL Multi-Element Reporting Hierarchy dimensions. All of the older hierarchy objects have been moved into the existing Obsolete GL Hierarchies folders.
